I have always been so fascinated with the lunar cycle – a complete moon child if you’d like to label me. I never understood why I connected so heavily with the moon, the solar system and even the universe. As a child, I would talk to the moon. I would follow it at night. I would yearn for it during the day. I did not quite grasp what each moon phase meant, but I remember feeling differently each time there was a new moon, full moon, half moon, etc.
According to Quantum Physics, the moon (along with everything else in the universe) has an operating frequency. The frequency emanated by the moon influences the frequency of the mind. The mind is made up of both the conscious (10%) and the subconscious (90%). Our subconscious mind stores the impressions, insights, memories and images we have accumulated throughout our lifetimes. The moon’s frequencies are so powerful that they are capable of bringing our subconscious thoughts to the conscious mind. Since our subconscious mind is filled with both positive and negative and necessary and unnecessary imprints, this rise to the conscious mind can leave us feeling overwhelmed, stressed, mindless and even a little crazy.
So how can we counter the influence of the moon? We need to understand how to harness the moon’s various emitted frequencies and adjust our conscious behaviours accordingly. When we work in conjunction with the moon, we can harvest, manifest and create such greatness in our lives.
New Beginnings. The New Moon signifies new beginnings. Correctly tapping into the New Moon energy can help you harness and fulfill your desires and visions. This is considered a lower energy time. During this time, you should set a New Moon intention and create a New Moon ritual. It is a time for you to tune into your inner frequencies. Consider sitting in a meditative and relaxing space with lit candles and burning incense. Set an intention that is personal to you and within yourself – something that you deeply care about. Write down your intention in present tense and capture the feelings behind your desire. State your intention with utmost enthusiasm – read and/or chant it to the universe.
Waxing Crescent Moon
Plan and Prepare. As the moon transitions from New Moon to Full Moon, the illuminating portion begins increasing in size. During the Waxing Crescent Moon, your intention should already be engrained in your mind. As the moon gets bigger and builds up in strength and intensity, so will your intention. You want to focus on steadily building up your inner power. Cleanse your space and your life from any negative influences that are draining your energy. Start thinking about how you will accomplish your intention. Create a plan of action and take action towards your goal.
First Quarter Moon
Take Action. As the moon continues to grow, there will be higher energy levels in the air. You begin moving towards your goal with courage, excitement and creativity. Consider taking one action towards making your intention a reality within 24 hours of the First Quarter Moon. The heightened energy means it is a pivotal time to tap into momentum and accomplish your goals. When we set our intentions, they were in the infancy stage. During the First Quarter Moon, our intentions are solidifying and our inner thoughts are starting to manifest in the physical plane.
Waxing Gibbous Moon
Refine and Hone. Ask the universe for guidance on how you can align better with your intentions and move forward with your actions. Call upon Nuit the Star Goddess for deeper insight and direction. You may need to refine your plan and shift your path towards your goal. This is a good time to harvest the moon’s strong energies and tie up any loose ends in your intentions and actions. This is the time to accept that things may not be happening in exactly the way we anticipated. But don’t worry, there will still be momentum towards your goal.
Harvest Endeavours. The Full Moon is fully illuminated by the direct light radiating from the sun. It represents transformation, fertility, gratitude, completion and abundance. At the time of a New Moon you set intentions to attract things into your life. During a Full Moon, you will be letting go of anything that no longer serves your higher purpose. Since energies are elevated, this may be a good time to release any feelings of anger or envy. Once you release any blocks that are holding you back, you can use the moon’s energy to recharge. Place your crystals and meaningful jewelry in direct moonlight to cleanse and charge up. Also take the time to give gratitude for everything you have accomplished thus far in this moon cycle.
Waning Gibbous Moon
Introspect. The Waning Gibbous Moon is a perfect time to release, retire and introspect. Now, the moon’s light and form is gradually decreasing in size. This is a time to review your endeavours and correct any mistakes you have made during your journey. The Waxing Gibbous Moon initiates instinctual growth while the Waning Gibbous Moon deals with subconscious enlightenment. During a Waning Gibbous Moon you should reflect, meditate and receive guidance from the universe. This will shed light on your progress, and/or lack of progress with your intentions.
Third Quarter Moon
Surrender and Release. The Third Quarter Moon is a time to consciously let go and release any negativity in your life. Continue banishing any blockages that you were removing during the Full Moon. The Third Quarter Moon gives us fantastic energetic support to release any negative patterns from our lives. Anything (or anyone) causing obstruction should be removed during this time. De-cluttering your personal space is the perfect thing to do during this moon phase.
Waning Crescent Moon
Rest and Rejuvenate. The Waning Crescent Moon represents the end of a moon cycle. It also hints that a new lunar cycle is near. This is a period for self-analysis, recuperation and preparation for the upcoming New Moon. During this time you should withdraw from the world and renew yourself. This is a very introvert stage of the cycle and it is important to contemplate and complete anything that is remaining. It is the final releasing and purging stage before the start of the next cycle.
